SEARCHERS, THE (1956) Theater marquee photo

Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. The La Habra Theatre at 201 W. Whittier Blvd. in La Habra, CA, went into construction in early 1949 but was not finished until June 1956. It opened on Sept. 6, 1956, and most likely the epic John Ford Western THE SEARCHERS starring John Wayne was one of the first films to play there.

The single floor theatre had 1200 seats and 200 parking places. It went through several ownerships and was torn down in the 1990s. There is the original photographer’s ink stamp on verso, that of Fritz Musser of Anaheim, CA. Slight wear only, NEAR FINE.
