BONJOUR TRISTESSE (1958) Set of 8 lobby cards

Set of eight (8) vintage original 11 x 14″ (28 x 35 cm.) lobby cards, USA. Deborah Kerr, David Niven, Jean Seberg, Mylene Demongeot, Geoffrey Horne, Juliette Greco, dir: Otto Preminger; Columbia. One of the great auteur Preminger’s most unusual, experimental films. A wonderful character study with the luminescent Jean Seberg playing a 17-year-old girl with a rich playboy father who is about to marry a woman from his past, and her displeasure with that. The original novel was by 17-year-old Francoise Sagan, and with superb acting and Preminger’s creative handling (told much in color flashback scenes, with present day scenes in black-and-white), made this story unique.

Saul Bass created the unique tear art portrait used in the credit box of these cards. All cards have imprint and some have rust stains from paper clips of long ago, minor rippling. This is at center top of the card. Card nos. 1 and 8 show the paper clip remnant the strongest. Card no. 1 also has spotting to the top left bland white margin. Overall VERY GOOD-.
