LOUISE BROOKS AND JEAN BRADIN/PRIX DE BEAUTE [BEAUTY PRIZE/MISS EUROPE] (1930)

Sold

Vintage original 7 ½ x 9 ½” (19 x 24 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, France. Louise Brooks, Georges Charlia, Augusto Bandini, dir: Augusto Genina; Societe des Films Artistiques. Louise Brooks’ last starring role in a film, and a considerably more lighthearted film than the two German silent masterpieces which preceded it. With a script by none less than Rene Clair and G.W. Pabst, who had directed her in PANDORA’S BOX and DIARY OF A LOST GIRL, this early part talking film is about a typist who enters a beauty contest and becomes an overnight sensation, being courted by handsome, wealthy men, a story harkening back to her American silent features. Scene still of Brooks at party with Jean Bradin as Prince de Grabovsky. Outstanding was Rudolph Mate and Louis Nee’s cinematography. An original French photo and a rarity. Coded 151 in bottom left corner. ABOUT FINE.
