HARPO MARX WITH FOOTBALL PLAYERS | HORSE FEATHERS (1932) Photo

Sold

Vintage original 8 x 10” (20 x 25 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photos, USA. The Four Marx Brothers (Groucho, Chico, Harpo, Zeppo), Thelma Todd, David Landau, dir: Norman Z. McLeod; Paramount. Chico and Harpo don women’s fashions in a zany scene from this classic comedy. The antics took place on a college campus this time, ending in an end-all football game. Released at 70 minutes, the extant version today is 68 minutes, two minutes of trims and shortening of dialogue lines found necessary when re-release in 1935 so that the film would adhere to the new Production Code. In still 1376-86, Harpo Marx makes one of his trademark insane faces as Nat Pendleton and James Pierce eye him. Athletes Pendleton had started his career in wrestling, while Pierce (the 1927 TARZAN) was known in the world of college football. There is one pin hole at center left margin which has been addressed with archival tape on the verso. NEAR FINE.
