LOVE HAPPY (1948) Marilyn Monroe and Groucho Marx

Sold

Vintage original 8 x 10” (20 x 25 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, Vera-Ellen, Ilona Massey, Raymond Burr, Marilyn Monroe, dir: David Miller: United Artists. A very rare image from the famous scene in which Marilyn Monroe plays a “client” Detective Sam Grunion (Groucho Marx). The last Marx Bros. feature had Harpo shoplifting food for a group of Broadway hopefuls. A can of sardines contains some stolen gems which are cause for a great goose chase throughout the story. Monroe won her role in an audition in which she simply walked by Groucho, she one of three choices. For the one and only time in film, Groucho sports a real mustache. Photo is coded LH-128 and has a 1948 Copyright date, (presented by Mary Pickford) though the film was released for 1949. There is some aging and foxing to this photograph. Crease at lower right corner and creases along top blank white margin. VERY GOOD.
