The team of director Tod Browning and star Lon Chaney made for some of the silent era’s finest crime/horror melodramas. Browning also wrote this tale of two thieves who vie to outdo each other over the same girl they both love. Chaney played the dual role of a robber known as the Raven and the half-paralyzed kindly Bishop.
