KATHARINE HEPBURN / SYLVIA SCARLETT (1935) As a boy

Sold

Vintage original 8 x 10” (20 x 25 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Brian Aherne, Edmund Gwenn, dir: George Cukor. Director George Cukor had a field day in this story of gender bending which included a group of film makers now known to be a part of the LGBTQ community. The story of a con artist fleeing France who disguises his daughter as a boy and then joins a group of actors who continue a coning spree was and to this day is a rather odd screenplay. It takes Cary Grant to figure out that Hepburn is not a boy. In this scene, still number P-857-64 we have Grant, Dennie Moore, Edmund Gwenn and Hepburn. There is an Oct. 1935 in stamp on the verso as well as the original RKO studios stamp, the Hollywood Advertising Council Sept. 13, 1935 ink stamp and the original attached paper advertising blurb. Minor creases at corners. ABOUT FINE.
