Gibson Gowland, Zasu Pitts, Jean Hersholt, Dale Fuller, Tempe Pigott, Chester Conklin, Joan Standing, dir: Erich von Stroheim; MGM. The legendary film based on the Frank Norris book MCTEAGUE, the screen adaptation by June Mathis and director von Stroheim. When the family of the hard working McTeague win a lottery, his wife Trina’s hoarding of the money destroys their lives. It is stills like this that allowed a restoration of the film. In the history of film, this is the most legendary for its being released in only a very truncated version, with the original cut, running for nearly ten hours, viewed by only a select few at MGM.

Still 179-167 features a confrontation scene between Marcus (Jean Hersholt) and McTeague (Gibson Gowland). Still is date stamped in ink July 9, 1925 and feature the original still stamp template for the film from Metro-Goldwyn. There is a tear at the upper right side blank white margin with some creasing below that. There is a bit of soiling and edge wear at the top right corner and a bit of edge wear along the bottom, VERY GOOD+.
