Henry Mancini wrote his classic song “Moon River” specifically for Audrey Hepburn, and it fit her range perfectly. Executives wanted to cut the song from the film and Hepburn stood up at the screening and was adamant, saying “Over my dead body.” The song stayed and Mancini said the interpretation was his favorite.
