MARILYN MONROE WITH GUITAR | RIVER OF NO RETURN (1954) Publicity portrait

$300.00

[Los Angeles]: Twentieth Century Fox, 1954. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm) black-and-white glossy silver gelatin print photo. Creases at bottom left corner, film credits on bottom blank white margin, overall about fine.

Once her star had risen, Twentieth Century Fox gave Marilyn Monroe some of the best directors in the business to work with. They also gave her some fine scripts in several genres, and her portfolio of work is outstanding. Her movies made money, too! River of No Return is a Western saga with songs and in Technicolor, directed by Otto Preminger and filmed on location.

As saloon singer Kay Weston, Monroe donned several period-ish showgirl costumes, posing for publicity in this costume designed for her by Charles LeMaire. It could be seen briefly in the film during a scene in her dressing room.
