Np, 1968, 1973. Two vintage original black-and-white photos:

  • One 8 x 8 3/4″ (20 x 22.5 cm), trimmed on left side for publication, newspaper clipping and 1968 date stamp on verso, near fine. Caption describes Davison as “the third Negro general… Gen. Creighton Abrams pinned the brigadier general’s silver star onto his collar. He is the first Negro Army general to lead an infantry brigade in combat.”
  • One 10 x 8″ (25 x 20 cm), near fine. “First black commander of U.S. Army division, Maj. Gen. Frederic Davison prepares to board helicopter.” In five years, Davison had advanced from brigadier general to being the first African American major general.
