CHARLIE CHAPLIN DIRECTING | THE GOLD RUSH [1925] BTS photo

$500.00

Charlie Chaplin directing The Gold Rush. 1925. Photo. [Los Angeles: Charlie Chaplin Productions, 1925]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm) black-and-white double weight silver gelatin photo. Very minor wear, crease at top left corner, original paper blurb on verso. About fine.

On location in the snowy Sierra Madre mountains for the silent comedy The Gold Rush, Charles Chaplin, in costume, directs and works with his crew. Filming proved to be too problematic, with the only location shot used in the final film being the opening shot of the miners heading up Chilcoot Path. Chaplin recreated the atmosphere of the locations on the backlot of his small studio in Hollywood.

This is the film for which Chaplin wished he would be remembered for.
