Np: 1934-1960s. Set of 3 vintage original 5 x 7″ (13 x 18 cm) black-and-white photos. With old photo agency stickers on verso, overall near fine or better.

A protégé  of Gustav Mahler, Otto Klemperer (1885-1973) was a German conductor and composer known for his opera and symphonic music career. (Wikipedia)

  • 1934 portrait with printed text on verso referring to how the Nazis had issued an arrest warrant in Klemperer’s name after he fled Berlin, where he had been director general of the State Opera. He shortly after took charge of the then-fledgling Los Angeles Philharmonic.
  • 1961 portrait with printed text on verso promoting his appearance in a BBC program called Face to Face.
  • Circa 1965 photo of Klemperer, with a holograph note on verso referring to his son Werner, who came to fame with the TV show Hogan’s Heroes, which began in 1965.
