$300.00

Los Angeles: Warner Brothers, 1939. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm) black-and-white glossy silver gelatin photo. Original paper blurb on verso, fine.

The epic historical drama Juarez, directed by William Dieterle, was in production at Warner Brothers studios between November 1938 and February 8, 1939. The film premiered in New York City on April 24, 1939, and was officially released in U.S. theaters on June 10, 1939. Therefore, this photo dates most likely from March 1939, when Erich Korngold was working with the orchestra and sound mixer during a post-production period.

The prolific composer scored one other Bette Davis star vehicle for this same year, The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
