This April 22, 1986, concert in Forest/Vorst, Belgium, occurred around the time of the band’s release of their album Tinderbox.

Poster for the November 26, 1985 concert at Vorst Nationaal in Belgium. The Cure toured with music from their recently released sixth studio album, The Head on the Door.

Lovesexy was Prince’s tenth studio album. Most of the tracks are solo efforts. The album was released in May, 1988, and was followed up with a critically acclaimed concert tour.

PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION (1986) Belgian concert poster

Poster for a November 27, 1986 concert in Belgium featuring Prince and the Revolution. Promoting their Parade album (which doubled as the soundtrack for the Under the Cherry Moon film), they played the Forest/Vorst National arena, where many sporting events and concerts have been held. With the momentum of the hit single “Kiss”and the heat still from the mainstream breakthrough of Purple Rain, the flame would go out for the Revolution only a few months later. In the fall, Wendy and Lisa were fired, and the rhythm section left.

This poster is a great document of the end of a crucial era for Prince.

PRINCE – SIGN O’ THE TIMES TOUR ’87 (1987) Belgian printer’s proof concert poster

Antwerp: On the Rox, [1987]. Vintage original 39 x 27.5″ (99 x 70 cm.) Belgian concert poster. Unfolded, minor crease in bottom right corner, just about fine.

A very scarce printer’s proof, with registration marks and color calibration indications in top and bottom blank margins, for Prince’s Sign O’ the Times Tour concert performance on 29 Jul 1987 at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium.

“The Sign o’ the Times Tour was a European concert tour by American recording artist Prince. It was the first tour after the split with The Revolution. The Sign o’ the Times Tour marked a huge transition period in the career of Prince. Gone were the Revolution, in particular long-time band members Bobby Z. (who was there from the start in 1978), Brown Mark, Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin. The only holdovers from the ‘Counter-Revolution’ line-up were Miko Weaver, Eric Leeds, Atlanta Bliss  and long-time keyboardist Doctor Fink. Sheila E., who Prince had been working with in the studio, took over on drums, while another session player, Levi Seacer, Jr., who had been playing in Sheila E.’s band and was also a member of Prince’s jazz-fusion project Madhouse, was added on bass. Boni Boyer was brought on board to play keyboards and organs and the Star Search phenom Cat Glover rounded out the group as choreographer, dancer, and backing vocals.” (Wikipedia)

NIRVANA (1991) Belgian concert poster

Ghent: On the Rox, [1991]. Vintage original 37 1/2 x 26 1/4 ” z(95 x 66.5 cm.) Belgian concert poster, unfolded, fine.

After signing with DGC Records in 1991, Nirvana issued their second album Nevermind, which contained their single “Smells like Teen Spirit”, and they were suddenly catapulted to international success, which in turn led to a European tour and this appearance in Belgium. The show, on November 23, 1991 at the Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium occurred only two months after the release of that album. The opening act was Hole, whose frontwoman, Courtney Love, wound up marrying Kurt Cobain.

QUEEN IN CONCERT (1979) Belgian concert poster

Forest-Vorst: Lion Concerts, [1979]. Vintage original 24 x 33 3/4″ (61 x 86 cm.) Belgian concert poster. Unfolded, minor creasing at extreme bottom left, overall just about fine.

“Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970. The band comprised Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals) and John Deacon (bass). 

“The band’s 1977 album News of the World contained ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’, which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world.” (Wikipedia)

SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES “PEEPSHOW” (1988) UK concert tour poster

Vintage original 35 x 25″ (89 x 63.5 cm.) British concert tour poster. Unfolded, minor diagonal crease at extreme bottom right, slightly touching printed area at bottom, overall near fine or better.

This poster represents a tour in which UK band Siouxsie and the Banshees was promoting their new album, Peepshow

“Following a lengthy break, the band recruited multi-instrumentalist Martin McCarrick and guitarist Jon Klein. The quintet recorded Peepshow in 1988, with non-traditional rock instrumentation including cello and accordion. Q magazine praised the album in its 5-star review: ‘Peepshow takes place in some distorted fairground of the mind where weird and wonderful shapes loom’. The first single, ‘Peek-a-Boo’, was seen by critics as a ‘brave move’ with horns and dance elements. Sounds wrote: ‘The snare gets slapped, Siouxsie’s voice meanders all around your head and it all comes magically together’. ‘Peek-a-Boo’ was their first real breakthrough in the United States.” (Wikipedia)

SUGARCUBES (1988) Belgian concert poster

Ghent: Belga Live, [1988} Vintage original 28 x 20″ (71 x 50 cm.) Belgian concert poster, unfolded, fine.

A poster from early in the career of the Sugarcubes, which in turn launched the career of Björk.

They were an Icelandic alternative rock band, around from 1986 until 1992, the year when they disbanded.

This December 11, 1988 concert in Ghent, Belgium, is from the same year as the release of their debut album, Life’s Too Good, which was an unexpected international success and which contained their signature song, “Birthday”.
