Vintage original 10 x 8″ (25 x 20 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Wonderful portrait of the prolific film maker set against camera lighting equipment. A master in all areas of film making. Joining up with Hungarian Jewish emigre Emeric Pressburger, he created the great classics of British cinema, lauded for their use of color, technical and dramatic achievements, cinematography and music. Amongst the greats are The Thief of Bagdad,Stairway to Heaven, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, Peeping Tom and the film this portrait publicized, Tales of Hoffman. He would be nominated for an Academy Award just once, for Best Writing – Original Screenplay for One of Our Aircraft is Missing (1942). Powell lived between 1905 and 1990.

Original paper blurb is attached to the verso. One tiny emulsion scratch near the top left of the image. Minor crease at thet bottom left corner. NEAR FINE.
