PASSION (1919)

$350.00

Vintage original 11 x 14″ (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA. Pola Negri, Emil Jannings, Harry Liedtke, dir: Ernst Lubitsch; UFA/Associated First National. Originally released as MADAME DUBARRY when it premiered in Germany in Sept. of 1919, the film was called PASSION for its first release in America in Dec. of 1920. The epic film, the grand story of the rags-to-riches tale of the milliner’s maid (who became the famed mistress of King Louis XV) and set in the last years of the French aristocracy made Pola Negri and director Lubitsch popular with American audiences. Pleading with the executioner, Madame Dubarry says “all my jewels for one more day of life.” This film established both star and director as internationally-known celebrities. Paper-backed, vertical tear separation right of image and corner crease have been neatly mended, VERY GOOD.
