Sold

London: Gaumont British, 1935. Collection of five (5) costume sketches in gouache, with some added marginal notations in pencil, along with large folio MS list of costumes. Folio, in portfolio with hand written label on front, and cloth ties. Various creases to sketches, with some minor spotting to covers, VERY GOOD.

NINE DAYS A QUEEN, a fictionalized life of Lady Jane Grey, was directed by Robert Stevenson, who co-wrote the screenplay with Miles Malleson. The distinguished cast included many veterans of Shakespeare on the British stage, among them Nova Pilbeam, Cedric Hardwicke and John Mills.

British movie costume sketches of this era are extremely uncommon.
