Bela Lugosi and John Carradine were offered the title role before Karloff was cast, making him a film legend. Bette Davis and Leslie Howard were early casting choices for the Clive and Clarke roles. This black and white mini poster is what is called a tear ad. It is the original promotional piece which was included in the original studio campaign materials which a magazine or newspaper could use for inclusion in their publication. It is not an ad torn from a magazine nor book, but issued on its own as a separate item in a campaign book or early press kit. It is one sided and has a light fold near center. There is a 1” tear at center right side, a bend with tiny tear at bottom right corner and a small tea at the bottom margin near the left corner. Hard to find and displays like a mini poster. NEAR FINE.
