Richard Wright (playwright) DADDY GOODNESS Negro Ensemble Company Poster 1968

Richard Wright (playwright)  DADDY GOODNESS Vintage original 22 x 14” (56 x 36 cm.) window card poster, with a few light diagonal scratches, minor rubbing, and wear at extreme edges, very good+.  New York: Negro Ensemble Company, June 4-July 7, [1968].
Richard Wright here adapted a play by French author Louis Sapin.  This posthumous production occurred in the first season of the Negro Ensemble Company, appears to have been its first in New York City, eight years after Wright’s death.  Moses Gunn made a strong impression in the lead role of “Daddy,” an aging old drunk who may or may not be God.
