Sold

Vintage original 10 x 8” (205 x 20 cm.) sepia tinted single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. Lovely early theatrical portrait of Louise Brooks while she was working in New York for THE ZIEGFELD FOLLIES OF 1925. Having worked for the Denishawn Modern Dance Company in Los Angeles for two years, Brooks was dismissed for having a poor attitude. She went to New York and soon had a job as a dancer in the ZIEGFELD FOLLIES. Paramount Pictures scouts saw her and she was soon in the movies. From early in her career, Brooks, who is 19 here, had her trademark hairstyle in place. A rare early theatrical portrait. Photo is sepia toned. Photographers name is printed at the lower left corner. Slight crease at lower left corner. ABOUT FINE
