Richard Yates (screenwriter) IWO JIMA

Sold

Final Draft, Los Angeles: Columbia Pictures, January 18, 1966. Vintage original film script, quarto, printed wrappers, brad bound, 96 pp. Tear to top left corner and a couple of light smudges to front wrapper, just about fine in very good+ wrappers.

An unproduced and unpublished screenplay by Richard Yates. After Revolutionary Road in 1961 and Yates’ 1962 follow up collection of short stories, Eleven Kinds of Loneliness, Yates soon found himself beset with personal problems — and broke. His agent got him a job to write this World War II script for the Corman Company. It did not eventually get made (although Yates did, a few years later, manage to work on the screenplay for another produced WWII film, THE BRIDGE AT REMAGEN).
