Fredric March, Veronica Lake, Robert Benchley, Susan Hayward, dir: Rene Clair; Paramount/United Artists. Veronica Lake’s fame soared in 1942 with the release of her now classic noir films THE GLASS KEY, THIS GUN FOR HIRE and the delightful I MARRIED A WITCH. Each film brought a plethora of new glamour portraits, Lake with her trademark tresses modeling an Edith Head gown. Lake was surely one of Edith Head’s favorite models. Portrait P2745-501 publicized this much touted comedy. During 1942 Paramount had such a surplus of production ready for release that United Artists purchased this and other films to release under their banner. Most of Lake’s portraits were taken by Eugene Robert Richee. Very minor edge wear. ABOUT FINE.
