Erich von Stroheim (director) MERRY-GO-ROUND [1923] Photo

[Los Angeles: Universal Pictures, 1923]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm) black-and-white photo with old photo agency sticker on verso, near fine or better.

This would have been Erich von Stroheim’s fourth film as director, but he and Universal parted ways, rather acrimoniously, about six weeks into production, and Rupert Julian was brought in to complete the film (for which Julian received sole directing credit).

This photo is of one of the lavish sets built, this one of the Pratera, Vienna’s famous amusement park where some of the film’s action takes place.
