JAMES DEAN IN THE UNLIGHTED ROAD (1955)
Vintage original 7 x 8 ¾” (18 x 21 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. James Dean’s short life and career was most prolific during 1954 and 1955; not only did he finish three major motion pictures, but continuously appeared in several TV Series playhouse dramas, including THE UNLIGHTED ROAD for Schlitz Playhouse. This was the story of a boy who is hijacked and framed for murder. This original portrait was used for a Jun 1, 1956 re-broadcast of the show. So distraught were his fans of his death that CBS, for the first time ever, did a repeat of one of their Playhouse shows. The original air date blurb is attached to the verso as is the advertising blurb. There is edge wear and creasing at the top and bottom right corners. NEAR FINE.
