Adapted from the award-winning short story “See How They Run” by Mary Elizabeth Vroman and featuring a nearly all-Black cast. This was Dorothy Dandridge’s first starring role in a feature film, about a schoolteacher trying to help a wayward student. Harry Belafonte co-starred in his movie debut (Wikipedia).
