Jivin’ in Be-Bop is a 57-minute feature film starring a young Dizzy Gillespie, who was one of the foremost creators of bebop post-WWII jazz. The film consists of nineteen musical and dance numbers, with Gillespie and his band performing 8 songs. The band plays off-camera during various dance numbers. Vocalist Helen Humes also makes an appearance. The film is a precious time capsule of this seminal moment in American music history, and all paper from it is rare.
