TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT (1944) Lobby card
Vintage original 11 x 14″ (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Walter Brennan, Dolores Moran, Hoagy Charmichael, Sheldon Leonard; dir: Howard Hawks; Warner Brothers.
Brilliant screenplay by Jules Furthman and William Faulkner from the Ernest Hemingway novel (though the book was not strictly followed) and direction by Howard Hawks make this a top classic. Set in 1940 Martinique as WWII is about to rage, Harry Morgan (Humphrey Bogart) and his assistant, the alcoholic Eddie (Walter Brennan), operate a boat-for-hire business. They take a job from the resistance fighters (violating their neutrality) and trouble breaks out. Notable was the steamy romance between Morgan and Marie “Slim” Browning (Lauren Bacall). The couple became a team on and off the screen from this point on.
Very minor light soil to edge background, ABOUT FINE.
