Martin Ritt directed Mary Steenburgen, Rip Torn, Peter Coyote, and Alfred Woodard in this adaptation of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ memoir about her life as a writer in Florida, where she eventually wrote THE YEARLING. And this screenplay about the life of a woman writer was in turn written by another woman writer, Dalene Young.
This gentle film received four Academy Award nominations.
