ALICE WHITE | SHOW GIRL (1928) Photo
[Los Angeles: First National, 1928]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo. Photo is printed a bit off center, so right blank white margin is wider than left. Chip at bottom left corner. About fine.
Thought lost for decades, a print was found in Italy a few years ago and the film is now available. With a soundtrack and songs, this early-sound/late-silent hybrid is appreciated in the genre of the transition to sound. So successful was the film that Alice White would reprise her Dixie Dugan character a few years later.
Here she is in the iconic showgirl costume of the period created by Max Rae. Photo is coded #SG-C 356 and First National information is on the verso.
