Robert Mitchum, Jean Simmons and Mona Freeman are presented in various scenes from this extremely dark film noir about an utterly destructive femme fatale, directed by Otto Preminger. Producer Howard Hughes bought Jean Simmons’ contract from the Rank Organization in England without her knowledge. She was not happy and hoped the contract would end before she made a film for him. Hughes requested Preminger to make the film in 18 days, simply to get one film out of her before her contract ended.
