Two behind-the-scenes portraits of director Charles Burnett, from the time when he was creating a series of independently produced film masterpieces all reflecting the African American experience as lived in Los Angeles, which included Killer of Sheep (1978), My Brother’s Wedding (1983) and To Sleep with Anger (1990). Burnett was deeply involved in the creation of a Black independent filmmaking movement, and his work had resonating influences upon subsequent movie makers.
