According to printed blurb on verso, this threesome is at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s annual golf tournament and the missing Carole Lombard is the photographer. However, the photo is ink stamped by MGM photographer László Willinger.
Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck with Clark Gable and Carole Lombard were living together as couples. A 1939 Photoplay magazine article by Sheila Graham outed the couples living together without a marriage license. The studios panicked and a slew of quick divorces and (re)marriages occurred in the summer and fall months of 1939.
