EARLY FILM SOUND RECORDING (1928) Photo

[Los Angeles: Pathé, 1928]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white print still photo, there are a couple of marginal chips and a couple of small marginal tears reinforced with archival paper. There is a stamp on back indicating the title of the film.

Director Tay Garnett and cast work on early talking film Celebrity, which starred Robert Armstrong and Lina Basquette. The early microphone is front and center of this shot, as is appropriate (since, in the earliest days of talking films, the ever-present microphone was a source of great stress as film crews gradually figured out how to use them unobtrusively).
