GRETA GARBO (1938) Rare candid photo

Los Angeles, [1938]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo. Light bend marks in blank white around the photo image, near fine.

Though she rarely appeared for candid photos during her film career and never willingly after, Greta Garbo occasionally opened up for an interview photo while at work, as in this late-1930s image which has a pencil date of 1938 on the verso along with an original paper blurb talking about how she “wants to be alone”.
