LILLIAN ROTH | MADAM SATAN (1930) Oversized photo by James Manatt

Sold

[Los Angeles: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1930]. Vintage original 10 x 13″ (25 x 32 cm.) black-and-white double weight glossy silver gelatin print photo. Very minor crease at bottom right corner, fine.

Aboard a zeppelin for the film’s climactic glamour-mixed-with-disaster moments, Reginald Denny and Roland Young vie for the attention of Lillian Roth in one of her few film appearances. The costumes by Adrian (for an outrageous costume party) more than prepared him for his work a few years later for the MGM extravaganza The Great Ziegfeld.

Photo is hand-numbered 469-193 in pencil on verso. Original paper blurb is also attached and ink stamp of photographer Manatt is present.
