LINA WERTMULLER (ca. 1975) Portrait by Fiorenzo Niccoli

Vintage original 11 ½ x 8 ¼” (29 x 21 cm.) borderless double weight photo, ca. 1975, stamped by photographer Fiorenzo Niccoli, FINE.

Lina Wertmüller is one of the major Italian directors and one of the preeminent woman directors of the 1960s and onward. She is the first woman to have ever received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Films such as THE SEDUCTION OF MIMI, LOVE AND ANARCHY, SWEPT AWAY and SEVEN BEAUTIES are all major parts of the Italian film canon.

This is a portrait of her from the time when she was working on what are now her best remembered works.
