VERONICA LAKE PULLS BACK HER HAIR FOR THE WAR EFFORT (1943) Photo
$375.00[Los Angeles: Paramount Pictures, 1943]. Vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo. Fine.
Though it did little to enhance her career, Veronica Lake adopted a new hairstyle at the height of America’s involvement in World War II. Women who fashioned themselves after her iconic hair-over-the-eye look were running into trouble at work when they replaced the men in factories: their hair would get caught in the machinery. As part of her war effort, Veronica pulled back her hair.
Still is coded “P2745-611”.
