On September 14, 1959, a group of African American kids, who had previously been in overcrowded classrooms in Bedford-Stuyvesant, were bused to PS 68, in the Glendale area of Queens. Many white Queens residents bitterly resented this, and they went on a one-day boycott of this and four other local schools in Queens. This photo is an ugly relic of that event.
