Group of seven vintage original black-and-white photos: one 6 x 9″ (14 x 22 cm), four 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm), one 8 x 10″ double weight, and an 8 x 11″ (20 x 28 cm) double weight glossy. Several have original attached blurbs and stamps and date from 1964 to the 1970s. Fine.

Joan Chandos Baez (b. 1941) is an American singer, songwriter, activist and artist who has performed for over sixty years. A leading figure in the 1960s folk revival, Baez is known for her clear soprano voice and influential protest songs like “Oh, Freedom”and “Diamonds and Rust”. Her music has expanded beyond folk to include pop, country, rock and gospel. Baez has been a lifelong activist for civil and human rights, LGBT rights, nonviolence and the environment. Baez’s beautiful voice has inspired fans since the 1950s, and at the same time she has been a highly visible activist for social justice. Her biggest hit is “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”. Baez is shown performing in Berkeley during a sit-in demonstration; in her first European television debut in 1965; performing with Joni Mitchell at Big Sur Music Festival in 1969; performing with John Sebastian, Edwin Hawkins and others; and in a stamped CBS television photo by Tony Esparza for her appearance on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1968.
