LOUISE BROOKS (1926) Photo by Edward Thayer Monroe

Vintage original 8 x 10” (20 x 25 cm.) black and white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo, USA. An extremely lovely portrait of the iconic silent star during her heyday at Paramount, displaying her trade-mark hair style. Portrait is circa 1927 and is a tinted silver gelatin print. The portrait includes her credit stamp and the Paramount credit stamp on the back, as well as the stamp from the Paramount foreign offices. The portrait front includes the photographer’s name Edward Thayer Monroe lightly printed into the still in the lower right. The photo is coded P703-25. As Thayer was mostly a portrait photographer of those on Broadway, this portrait was likely made of Brooks just as she was getting into the movies while working at Paramount’s Astoria studios. Light creasing at bottom left margin area. Photo is lightly printed and has a sepia quality to it. ABOUT FINE.
