THE INK SPOTS [ca. 1955] Autographed portrait

$150.00

New York: Universal Attractions, [ca. 1955], Vintage original 10 x 8″ (25 x 20 cm) black-and-white photo. Diagonal crease in extreme top left, generally very good+.

The Ink Spots were a long-lived African American vocal group, of which Charlie Fuqua was a founding member. In 1952, Fuqua left the group to form his own vocal group. He wanted to still use the original name “The Ink Spots”, but lawsuits ensued about who had the right to the name.

This photo is autographed by all four members of the group, including a lengthy sentiment penned by Fuqua.
