DON’T KNOCK THE ROCK (1956) Half sheet poster

Sold

Vintage original 22 x 28″ (55 x 71 cm.) half sheet poster style A, USA. Bill Haley and the Comets, Alan Dale, Patricia Hardy, Alan Freed, Fay Baker, dir: Robert F. Sears; Columbia.

This follow up to ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK shared many of the same talents and even the same sets, but this time the effect of rock & roll music on American youth was examined as the main dramatic plot. Parents were concerned in 1956 that this new kind of music was going to corrupt their kids.

Small town-born Arnie Haines (Alan Dale) visits home after becoming a rock star, but the townsfolk will not allow him to perform there. It takes promoter Alan Freed to convince the crotchety folks that they have nothing to worry about; they do this with top music performers Little Richard, The Treniers and Bill Haley and the Comets performing their recent top hits. Of course, they lip-synched to their records.

Folded, some minor spotting and tack holes, but basically a nice, unrestored poster, VERY GOOD.
