ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK (1956)

Vintage original 22 x 28″ (55 x 71 cm.) half sheet poster style “B”, USA. Bill Haley and the Comets, The Platters, Tony Martinez, Freddie Bell, Alan Freed, dir: Fred F. Sears; Columbia Pictures. When Bill Haley and the Comets brought their earth-shattering song and new sound to public ears, Hollywood wanted to cash in — and do so very quickly.

So, this low budget vehicle by producer Sam Katzman went quickly in front of the cameras. It was about a frustrated Big Band promoter who runs into Bill and his Comets at a small town dance and sees money signs with the new sound he can bring to the world. It gave Haley and his group and several other groups and performers the opportunity to do their stuff. The first full length rock & roll movie, even Queen Elizabeth II requested a print so as she could experience this new genre of music.

Unfolded, one marginal tear on right middle margin mended on back with brown paper, various signs of handling, VERY GOOD.
