(World War II racist propaganda) RAVAGED EARTH [1942] Three-sheet poster

Ravaged Earth. 1942. Poster. [New York: Crystal Pictures, 1942]. Vintage original 82 1/2 x 41″ (210 x 104 cm) three sheet poster. Folded, there are glue stains where the poster’s two pieces were put together for display. Tear with scotch tape repair in extreme blank upper right border, scattered tears at foldines but mostly in top third of poster. Paper loss at top left corner extending into orange background. Bright, unfaded colors display nicely, overall very good-.

Poster for the WWII documentary propaganda film Ravaged Earth, which was first screened in New York City in November  1942. The New York Times film critic wrote: “‘Ravaged Earth’, which opened yesterday at the Gaiety Theatre, is a brutally frank factual exposition of the shocking atrocities inflicted by the Japanese upon their helpless Chinese victims. It is also a solemn and frightening warning of what Americans could expect to experience if the Nipponese warlords were permitted to roam the earth uncontested.” (Wikipedia)
