JIMMY THE GENT JAMES CAGNEY CARICATURE POSTER (1934)

Vintage original 14 x 22” (35 x 55 cm.) window card poster, USA. James Cagney, Bette Davis, Allen Jenkins, Alan Dinehart, Alice White, dir: Michael Curtiz; Warner Brothers. A lot of verbal action was lacked into this crime comedy’s 67 minutes, with Michael Curtiz at the helm and James Cagney and Bette Davis rattling off the dialogue, it made for great entertainment. Cagney plays a racketeer who finds heirs of unclaimed fortunes. He puts on airs when he fears losing his girlfriend to an upright competitor, who turns out to be a fraud. The artist assigned to create the colorful campaign featuring caricatures of Cagney is not named and they do not seem to have signed any of the art pieces associated with this campaign. Poster has some nicks and slight creasing at top left corner, crease near bottom left corner and some soil spots and tiny creasing at bottom right corner. Light soiling to white back ground.
