AVA GARDNER EARLY GLAMOUR (1943) Oversized photo

[Los Angeles: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1943].

Vintage original 10 x 13″ (25 x 32 cm.) black-and-white double weight glossy silver gelatin photo. Verso has typed information blurb, ink stamp 1313-109 and the remnants of a photographer’s ink stamp. Border chip at mid-left edge and soiling to right blank white margin. Rare oversized image of popular star in her earliest days.  Very good.

Ava Gardner spent her first two years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer learning her craft, which included posing for endless glamour photos. These were most popular during the World War II years. This sitting publicized her small role as the “Dream Girl” in Two Girls and a Sailor.
