GONE WITH THE WIND | PARIS BONNET SCENE (1939; 1940 release) Photo

$300.00

[Los Angeles: Selznick International Pictures, 1939]. Vintage original 7 x 9″ (17 x 22 cm.) black-and-white double weight glossy silver gelatin photo. Minor wear at left and right bottom corners. Near fine.

This vintage 1940-release photo of one of the most popular scenes from the epic classic includes the original paper blurb on verso which describes the film as being shown without any cuts after its roadshow tour. So popular was Gone with the Wind after the December 1939 release that it stayed in theatrical distribution for more than a year. The image of Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) presenting Scarlett O’Hara with the latest in headwear from Paris was so well recognized that it appeared on the cover of the 1940 publication of the movie version of Margaret Mitchell’s book.

Part of a series of scene stills which appear to have been released in a borderless format.
