FRANKENSTEIN (1931) Original tear sheet

Vintage original 9 1/2 x 14 1/2″ (24 x 36 cm.) tear ad used for magazine and newspaper publications, USA. Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Mae Clarke, John Boles, Edward Van Sloan, Dwight Frye, dir: James Whale; Universal. One sided with a light fold near center, a one-inch tear at center right side, a bend with tiny tear at bottom right corner and a small tear at bottom margin near left corner. Near fine.

The ultimate classic horror film! An obsessed scientist wants to create a living being from exhumed body parts. Bela Lugosi and John Carradine were offered the title role before Boris Karloff was cast, making him a film legend. Bette Davis and Leslie Howard were early casting choices for the Mae Clarke and Colin Clive roles.

This hard to find black-and-white mini poster is called a tear ad — an original promotional piece included in the original studio campaign materials provided to magazines or newspapers for inclusion in their publications. It is not an ad torn from a magazine nor book but issued on its own as a separate item in a campaign book or early press kit.

AMARCORD (1973) Set of 16 photos

Set of sixteen (16) vintage original 8 x 10″ (20 x 25 cm.) black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photos, USA. Pupella Maggio, Armando Brancia, Magali Noel, Titta Biondi, dir: Federico Fellini; PECF. Six (6) photos are from the press kit and have the NSS coding on them, from the American release by New World. The other ten (10) photos are issued by Warner Brothers, who handled the international release. All are in clean, only lightly used condition, ABOUT FINE.

Based on director Federico Fellini’s own childhood experiences, the story of a year in the life of a small Italian coastal town in the 1930s. Of course, the director’s “take” makes things magical and larger than life. Translated to English, the title means “I remember”.

The colorful characters of Fellini are present in the variety of images.
